    The company is seeking a PhD-level protein biochemist with two to five years of post-PhD experience to join our Research Biochemistry group in Lexington, MA. This is a hands-on laboratory leadership position. Preferred candidates will have extensive experience in the characterization of proteins and their binding interactions using biochemical and cell-based assays, and will be broadly knowledgeable and experienced in the use of biophysical and chromatographic methods for protein and peptide analysis. Experience in mass spectrometry, proteomics, high-throughput screening, and pharmacology are desirable. Candidates should be broadly knowledgeable in the use of various kinds of laboratory instrumentation and automation as well in the use of computers and software as they apply to drug discovery and development. They should also be conversant in peptide chemistry, immunology, and structural biology. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.


    This position is part of the broader vaccine research and development effort at Agenus within the Precision Medicine and Manufacturing group. Reporting to the Senior Director of Research Biochemitsry, responsibilities are to support all aspects of vaccine R&D. As a bench level scientist, this position will design and execute novel studies of the components of our heat shock protein chaperoned vaccine platform to support a range of goals including enhancing understanding of the mechanim of action, characterizing and improving the preparation of vaccines, and transferring knowledge between research and development groups. Ready adaptability to a strongly matrixed R&D team is a must.


    PhD in biochemistry, chemistry or related field, with 2~5 years of experience post PhD. Documented productivity as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, patents and invited presentations. Experience mentoring junior lab members and teaching is a strong plus. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
