Agenus (Lexington, MA) is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Sr. Research Associate to join the Molecular Biology group and our burgeoning Cell Therapy division. The successful candidate will work as part of a core team to create and characterize critical reagents that will enable the development of cellular therapeutics, including Chimeric Antigen Receptors (CARs) and T Cell Receptors (TCRs).
The candidate will be expected to work independently and as part of a cross-functional group to design and generate DNA constructs and viral vectors as well as to optimize protocols for virus production and transduction of several primary cell types. Work will include plasmid construction, viral vector production and cell line engineering (including gene editing using CRISPR/Cas9) as well as functional validation and characterization of these materials. The candidate should have the ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues and develop optimized processes for common tasks. Excellent analytical and communication skills are important for this position.
An MS degree in molecular/cellular biology or related field is required—an immunology background is a plus. A minimum of 10 years of research experience with demonstrated academic/industry achievement is required. Strong skills in molecular biology, and especially mammalian cell culture and flow cytometry, are important. Experience with viral vectors (including lentiviral and retroviral vectors) and modern DNA assembly methods such as Gibson Assembly is preferred.
