The Executive Director of Program Management will report into the Chief Strategy Officer and lead a tandem function to Portfolio Management as part of the core responsibilities of the Corporate Strategy Group. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for management of internal assets resulting from Agenus research and development in the areas of immune checkpoint targeting antibodies, cancer vaccines and platform development projects. The position will interact with the internal heads of multiple functions at Agenus to insure success of all portfolio programs.



  • Provides strategic cross-functional leadership
  • Drives goal implementation and programs with supportive resourcing, budgeting, and annual and long-range operating plans
  • Ensures effective resourcing and program management with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure adherence to scope, contractual and financial obligations, reporting and governance internal and partnered programs
  • Works collaboratively to integrate clinical, commercial, CMC, and regulatory inputs into defensible product development plans
  • Builds and manages PM team to effectively plan, execute and ensure effective communication to align activities and strategy
  • Ensures alignment and implementation of best PM practices (integrated planning, risk management)
  • Tracks progress and prepare cross-project resource impact analysis, develop standardized tools for reporting to PSG and MC
  • Proposes and drives initiatives to standardize reporting through information management systems
  • Implements, monitors operations and ensures proper tracking against contractual obligations and financial requirements
  • Evaluates processes; as needed develops improvement plans for assigned areas, leveraging internal stakeholder relationships
  • Functions as key partner in staging and preparation of due diligence activities


Relevant Experience:


  • >12 years of program leadership experience, at least half of which leading the planning and execution of global clinical trials
  • At least 5 years or more experience leading projects in oncology, with strong preference for immuno-oncology experience
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and to provide management oversight of CROs
  • Ability to act as a thought partner to clinical and regulatory leadership in identifying and managing operational project risks
  • Proven track record of problem solving to facilitate program execution
  • Experience in developing study budgets, forecasting and financial oversight of a project




  • Advanced degree in one of the disciplines related to clinical practice/health care, life sciences, or drug development (Master, PhD, MD, PharmD)
