Agenus Bio is pleased to offer the opportunity to make a difference in patients’ lives and join an organization in the delivering innovative curative treatments for cancer. As an essential member of the HR team, you will help build a Human Resource function for our Berkley, CA site. Initially, a big part of your day to day will be working with managers to source and attract exceptional Talent, onboard new hires as well as to act in a consultant capacity, helping your leaders manage change and implement organizational development solutions, programs and policies. Over time, the HR Business Partner will be exposed to areas in talent development, work force planning, succession planning, labor and employee relations, training, and performance management.

 

 

Responsibilities

Serves as the HR Consultant to the Berkley, CA location; partners with business leaders to identify their human capital needs and objectives and collaborates with the leaders and other departments to best meet those objectives.

  • Coaches operations leadership on talent relations matters to achieve problem resolution; conducts investigations involving employee complaints and disputes; resolves simple issues while collaborating with Operations Leaders in achieving resolution of complex relations issues.
  • Work with Business Leaders to develop staffing strategy and Talent Acquisition. 
  • Works to develop HR solutions that will ultimately improve business results through increasing retention and developing high-performing teams.
  • Partners with business leaders in the development and execution of staffing strategies to ensure recruitment of talent at appropriate staffing levels. Recommends changes to staffing strategies as appropriate.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Works to identify performance gaps and provide appropriate solutions/recommendations to close gaps.
  • Attends various business unit meetings to ensure HR alignment.
  • Ensures that a strong leadership and coaching culture permeates the organization. Provides expert advice and coaching to teammates and management when appropriate. Encourages culture of engagement through regular communication and positive work relationships, teammate recognition and ongoing teammate interactions.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Manages the leave of absence programs including medical, personal and family care. Ensures that all documentation is processed in a timely manner.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Your work history includes 4-6 years of experience as a human resource generalist
  • You consider yourself a guru in all the key HR specialist areas
  • You have previous experience supporting hourly/sifts employees
  • You have a proven track record in creative problem solving, influencing, change management, and eliminating barriers at any organization level.
  • Are able to develop trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results teams at all levels of the organization. Experience in coaching, training, and developing teams in a high-performance culture.
